If you have been injured from a motor vehicle accident (MVA), you may be entitled for up to 12 active rehab sessions. After a MVA, an individual may be in a highly sympathetic driven state which means it can be very easy for the body to tense up and be in a high state of stress. Our active rehab sessions focus on removing barriers and releasing involuntary guarding that the body may have. This can be done by using methods such as Fascial Stretch Therapy to help the body out of a sympathetic state and into more rest and relaxation. Once this is achieved, the practitioner can then fully maximize the process of active rehab. This can include introducing mobility movement patterns to prevent scar tissue from accumulating. This would be followed up with ensuring stability patterns are thoroughly taught, to allow full self-efficacy of the patient. Weighted progressions mixed in with cardiovascular intervals will help the patient reach their pre-MVA state, safely and efficiently allowing the patient to be confident moving forward.

I founded Genuine Athletics in 2017 after spending multiple years in the fitness industry working for big box gyms. Which inspired my desire to change the game! By hand picking only the best our industry has to offer and personally mentoring my team to insure they are experiencing the best personal and professional development possible. I could in turn do justice by those who give us the opportunity to lead their fitness journey and feel confident they are in the right hands.

My personal fitness journey comes from humble beginnings, with photographs from before I could remember with dumbbells in my hands. With my first real workout at the age of 10 at the local recreation centre. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try my hand at various sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, rugby, wrestling and my personal favorite football. Winning three high school and community league championship titles, four team MVP trophies and awarded Star Bowl MVP.

Fast forward many years later, I am a father and husband to a beautiful family. I opened my own state-of-the-art performance, wellness and rehabilitation centre after positioning myself as one of the top trainers in the country. Competing at the national level in powerlifting, olympic weight lifting and bodybuilding before earning my Pro Card in Strongman. These various modalities taught me that there is no right or wrong way to train, or live for that matter. Consistency is the key to all things in life and your habits and rituals will ultimately determine your results. My experiences in competition taught me valuable life lessons that I have managed to use in business and my personal life. Dr. Dev was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg and completed his chiropractic studies at Life Chiropractic College West in California. His graduating class recognized him as the youngest student to graduate that class year. Shortly after graduating, he returned to Winnipeg to open his chiropractic clinic from scratch in the same neighbourhood of Wolseley where he grew up. At that time, his main focus was sports injuries, and he worked closely with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen basketball team athletes. Dr. Dev’s wife later established her dental clinic inside the chiropractic clinic. His practice quickly changed from a sports clinic to a family clinic, where he felt privileged to work alongside his wife on TMJ patients. After 3 competitions and successfully breaking the Junior 52kg squat, bench, deadlift and total provincial records I decided to change gears and challenge myself in competitive bodybuilding, placing 1st at Popeyes Fall Classic 2016 and 3rd at BCABBA Provincial Championships 2017.

My experience in both sports expanded my knowledge of the health and fitness industry and led me to become a certified personal trainer. I find happiness in encouraging others to see their full potential and guiding them to reach their goals. Whether that entails chasing strength goals and setting new records, or becoming more familiar and comfortable in the gym, I am prepared to help my clients work towards their goals with a friendly and sustainable approach.
